In the UK this means a noise free line from the exchange to the cabinet at the end of the road. My old connection had a maximum of 3.5Mb due to the 3.5km distance, now I have a steady 4.5Mb. I could pay more for more, but that's enough for me.
A plus is that the telephone is now crystal clear.
